Predicted Food Trends for 2017
At the beginning of every year we love to think about the food trends that will become popular in the coming year. At the end of the day, good food is good food, trends aside. But it is interesting to watch certain trends take hold each year. Some we embrace with reckless abandon and others we are happy to see the end of.
While 2016 was all about fried chicken and soft serve, we started to wonder, what does 2017 have in store for us?
So, here’s our list of our Top 10 (predicted) Food Trends of 2017:
- FRIED CHICKEN
We don’t think fried chicken is going anywhere. Thank you food gods.
- COOKING OVER FIRE
We think cooking over flame will continue to feature prominently in our restaurants this year.
We think you may be seeing a lot more of this traditional Hawaiian dish. (Poke is a raw fish salad).
- INSTA WORTHY FOOD
Expect your Instagram feeds to continue to be flooded with food porn this year.
- STREET FOOD
We think street food will be celebrated with Chefs going back to basics.
- WELLNESS TONICS
Green juices aren’t going anywhere. Though we’re pretty sure there will be a new Kale. Maybe it will be Swiss Chard’s year?
- HOME DELIVERY
Quality home delivery shows no signs of slowing down. Uber Eats anyone?
- SUSTAINABLE FOOD
Diners are becoming more aware about food wastage and are increasingly interested in where and how food is sourced and produced.
- BLUE MAJIK
If 2016 was all about green (matcha), we predict 2017 to be all about blue (blue majik). Bring on the Smurf Latte!
- ALTERNATIVE PASTA
Zoodles. We think you could see a lot more pasta made from zucchini on your menus. Or basically more plant based options in general.
In all honesty, no-one can accurately predict food trends. So this post is meant to be taken ‘tongue in cheek’ and has been published to get you thinking about what food trends might become popular this year!
