Best Bars & Pubs in Paddington
Paddington is home to a huge array of bars, from heritage pubs dating back to the 1800’s, to underground speakeasy’s, to slick wine bars. You are spoilt for choice. In fact, Paddo is a top spot for a pub crawl!
Here I count down my 10 favourite bars and pubs in Paddington (in no particular order):
- THE PADDINGTON
The old Paddington Arms Hotel is now The Paddington, thanks to a Merivale makeover. There’s a British twist and an old butcher theme. Great for groups.

- CHARLIE PARKER’S
Dimly lit underground speakeasy, specialising in cocktails. Upstairs you will find Fred’s, a restaurant with a farm to table approach.

- THE BELLEVUE
Renovated Paddo local corner pub, set in a leafy back street, with a bright and airy dining room, serving fancy pub grub.

- PADDO INN
Lively neighbourhood pub with a front bar that’s great for people watching and a monochrome dining room that serves up a Modern Australian menu.

- THE LORD DUDLEY
Classic (and relatively untouched) English themed local pub with a renovated light filled dining room serving a menu with a focus on English classics. (Ok, it’s technically located in Woollahra, but close enough!)

- 10 WILLIAM STREET
An intimate Italian wine bar at its best. Brought to us by the guys behind Fratelli Paridiso.

- THE ROYAL
Fiveway’s favourite local with a small rooftop offering stunning city skyline views, should you make it up the stairs!

- FOUR IN HAND
Long time locals favourite, once home to chefs Colin Fassnidge and Guillaume Brahimi, but now returned to its roots. A pub with no airs and graces.

- GRAND NATIONAL
Another much loved local that’s undergone a face lift, The Nash offers classic pub fare, with a dog friendly front bar.

- THE VILLAGE INN
Sadly, Irish favourite Durty Nelly’s is no more, but in its place we have The Village Inn. A classier take for this much loved local, well known for its Trivia Nights.
