Review of Toko Restaurant & Bar and Tokonoma Lounge
Toko Restaurant & Bar and Tokonoma Lounge offer an informal style of Japanese ‘izakaya’ dining.
The original restaurant is situated on busy Crown Street in Surry Hills with a newer location now open in the city. The decor of both establishments is contemporary and minimalist with subtle lighting taking centre stage.
Both Toko and Tokonoma are always buzzing and they provide the perfect place to stop in for some edible nourishment, should you be visiting one of the many nearby bars.
The food menu is designed to be shared and they also offer a Sushi Bar and Robata Grill. The food menu is also offered in the bar area in a more relaxed and casual setting.
Good to know, there’s a private dining room at Toko Surry Hills, seating 12 – 20 people, perfect for your next function.
In terms of the drinks menu, you’ve got an extensive cocktail list, sake’s, shochu’s and a selection of Japanese whiskeys to tempt you. Of course, there is also a wine list.
Tokonoma, provides a plush and luxurious lounge setting and offers the same food menu as Toko. Shochu is the star here and diners can experience infused shochu tonics in the comfort of their leather banquette seating.
We think Toko & Tokonama are perfect for groups and intimate gatherings alike.
