Review of The Rum Diaries
The Rum Diaries is a cosy neighbourhood bar/restaurant with a focus on well, you guessed it, Rum.
The interior style is relaxed and quirky, whilst being intentionally old fashioned, complete with painted brick walls, wooden floor boards and crystal chandeliers. Nothing matches too perfectly and it retains a traditional and warm charm. It kind of feels like a hipper version of Grandma’s house!
Naturally, they’ve created a cocktail menu utilising their favourite ingredient, Rum and they offer bottles from all corners of the globe.
You can choose from a classic such as an ‘Old Fashioned’, or you might like to be a little more adventurous and choose from their signature selection such as ‘The Black Pearl’ made with Goslings Black Seal, Crème de Cacao, Cointreau, Cherry Bitter, Vanilla Syrup and Ginger Beer. Or maybe you prefer your Rum straight up. They don’t discriminate.
Good to know, if you’re not in the mood for a cocktail they also serve wine, beer and ciders.
The food has certainly not been forgotten, with a menu that works well to be shared. If you’re looking for something light they serve a Charcuterie and a Cheese Board, or you might want to indulge in their signature Seared scallops with prosciutto, gorgonzola sauce & caviar.
They also offer a selection of more substantial dishes such as Lamb rump with frekkeh on truffle pomme puree and rosemary jus (and don’t even get us started about the truffle mash) along with a few dessert options.
Oh, and to top it all off, you should expect to receive friendly service.
We think The Rum Diaries is a top spot for a casual meal with friends or a perfect venue for date night. We suggest you also keep your eye on their website to make the most of their specials such as Happy Hours and live entertainment.
