* THE CHALET HAS NOW CLOSED AND REOPENED AS DARLO COUNTRY CLUB*
When we heard our old time fave The Victoria Room was shutting up shop for good it’s fair to say it was a sombre day. But we’re always looking for a silver lining and we’re pleased to say we think we’ve found it.
Enter The Chalet.
The concept is simple – they’ve created a ski chalet where it’s not hard to imagine you’re in Zermatt or Aspen for that matter (or any other ski field your heart desires).
When you walk through the doors you’ll be greeted by falling (faux) snow. A nice touch. Enter the space and you’ll be surrounded by fur skin rugs, with moose heads pinned to the walls and what ski chalet would be complete without an open fire? It’s a winter wonderland.
They’ve made the most of the ample seating and done away with the old restaurant. It’s the kind of space where you can sit back and relax and we like that.
In terms of the menu, drinks wise there are signature cocktails – you really can’t go wrong with the Banana Split Blazer! Oh, and it would be a crime not to serve mulled wine of course. Plus, you’ve got your usual beer and wine options. To nibble think fondue, jaffles, crumbed camembert and other winter warmers. One word. Yum.
We love the new concept and we think The Chalet equally suits both couples and groups.
One word of warning. Don’t leave it too late to visit. The Chalet is open until mid September 2015.
(Psst – stay tuned early October for a brand new concept. We can’t wait!)
