Review of The Botanist

The Botanist is Kirribilli’s first small bar and what a gem it is.

But first, who is the man The Botanist is inspired by?  That man is Gerard Fothergill, a well travelled pioneer in the study of plants and spices and their medicinal qualities, dating back to the 1800’s.  Gerard is said to have spent his final years at the site of the now Botanist Bar.

Right, back to the venue…

Find the unmarked door (just look for the light above) and head down the narrow staircase.  Downstairs your garden oasis awaits.

The Botanist

The underground interior is softly lit with lamps and candles creating a warm, inviting atmosphere, along with accents of greenery.  With plenty of tables and seating, you’re sure to find a cosy spot or you may prefer to stand at the bar, particularly handy on those busy nights.

On the drinks menu, you’ll find an array of cocktails which are their specialty, including share cocktails, along with wine, beer and cider.

But this is not just a small bar.  They offer quality cuisine in this establishment and you’re going to want to try some.  The food menu comprises sliders, tacos, pizzas and share plates.  Just perfect to accompany your poison of choice.  Good to know, they also offer set group menus.

The Botanist

We think The Botanist is a top spot for groups and couples alike.  Just beware the atmosphere is loud and buzzing, this is not a quiet spot.

If you like The Botanist, you might like to check out their other establishments – Bondi Hardware, SoCal, The Butler and most recently Della Hyde.
