Review of Riley St Garage
Riley St Garage is a New York style restaurant and bar which takes inspiration from the glamorous art deco 1930’s. The large industrial space, which was originally Australia’s first full garage, centres around a brass oval bar. The warehouse interior features soaring ceilings with wood flooring, exposed bricks and soft lighting creating a cosy ambience.
In keeping with their garage theme, waitstaff are known as ‘service mechanics’.
Executive Chef Regan Porteous’ Modern Australian menu is share style with oysters and raw seafood a specialty.
Oyster fans will find a number of dressings to accompany their oysters and raw seafood lovers will be spoilt for choice, though we highly recommend trying the smoked kingfish sashimi with pickled daikon and pistachio textures. Amazing!
Moving past the starters, you’ll find smaller share dishes and more substantial larger plates. Worth noting, the crispy pork knuckle with soy seeded mustard and pickled apple is another specialty and well worth trying if you’re a pork fan.
To finish you’ll find a selection of cheeses and desserts and sweet tooths finding it hard to choose might want to make the most of their dessert platter.
On the drinks menu you’ll find both Australian and International wine options as well as a curated cocktail list.
We think Riley St Garage is a top spot for a romantic date night or a group dinner with friends. The food, the service, the decor, the ambience – we think they’re cruising down the freeway at full throttle!
