Review of Papi Chulo
Merivale takes over Manly’s Wharf with its South American styled smokehouse Papi Chulo.
Taking up prime position and offering stunning water views, Papi Chulo‘s interior is a wash of white, with hints of reds, greens and warm woods. But, the real star is that sea view and it’s hard to beat on a warm, sunny day.
The menu showcases slow cooked wood fired meats, with South American flair and they sure show us Aussies a thing or two about the humble barbie. Chargrilled seafoods are a standout, along with ceviches and empanadas thrown in for good measure. There’s also a great set menu for groups.
They serve a killer cocktail list, the likes of which seems just perfect to sip on a hot summers day. We’re loving the Cravado – a frozen blend of vodka, coconut water, lychees, mint and lime. Talk about a thirst quencher.
Word of warning – this place is always buzzing and is possibly not your best choice for a quiet date night.
