Review of Molo Bar
FEATURED IN: TOP 10 OPENINGS OF 2017
Molo Bar (Italian for ‘pier’) is an Italian apertivo wine bar and the newest addition to Woolloomooloo’s Finger Wharf, but we’re not quite sure how long she’s going to be around. Because sadly Molo Bar is a pop-up bar, occupying the outdoor space at Manta. So we suggest you enjoy Molo Bar while you can!
It goes without saying as with the likes of China Doll and Otto, Molo Bar boasts an enviable water front view. In a nod to the crystal blue Italian waters, they’ve decked her out in aqua and chosen a relaxed, coastal vibe.
But the food and wine are where she really shines.
The menu is Italian of course, but they focus on simple dishes done well and allow the ingredients to shine. The dishes are created to be shared and the menu will change according to seasonal availability, with most produce sourced directly from Italy. Oh, and it would be a crime not to try their Burrata, which is served with caviar and Sicilian olive oil.
In terms of the drinks, the wine list is exclusively Italian and includes lesser known and unique wines from Italian regions such as Sicily, Campania, Puglia, Sardinia, Calabria and Basilicata. They also feature a selection of Italian digestives and grappas.
We think Molo Bar is a welcome addition to the Sydney dining scene. In fact, we hope she stays around for a while.
