Review of Mary’s Underground
Hidden underground in the site of the old live music venue, The Basement, you will find Mary’s Underground. But this is not Mary’s as you know it! This is not a burger joint.
Mary’s Underground is far more grown up. It’s a dimly lit multi level affair, reminiscent of Restaurant Hubert and best of all, they’re serving up a side of live music every night!
Start your night in the Clam Bar with wine and oysters. Good to know they have a Happy Hour between 5 – 6.30pm on weeknights, with $10 cocktails and $5 house wine and beers.
Head to the restaurant for your meal and you’ll find a bistro style Euro-Australian menu, with dishes designed to be shared. Think parfait, grilled prawns, rotisserie meats and lobster of course.
The huge wine list contains only natural, organic or biodynamic wines from Australia and overseas and your sommelier will be more than happy to help you with your choices. A bespoke cocktail list is also offered, which will change monthly.
I think Mary’s Underground is a top spot. After all, there aren’t that many places that offer live music these days. It’s also a great spot for groups. Cue Birthday party venue. Also worth noting, they’re open late.
