Review of LuMi Dining
LuMi Dining is located waterfront at Pyrmont. ‘Lumi’ is Italian for ‘small lights’, so you won’t be surprised to notice…well… small lights provide a wonderful sparkle inside their glass interior.
Chef Federico Zanellato and his wife and Sommelier, Michela are the driving force behind LuMi Dining and they’re serving up a modern Italian fine dining menu in relaxed surroundings.
The restaurant’s glass frontage makes the most of their enviable location, bringing the outside in when the glass doors are retracted. The decor is minimalist and slightly retro modern with hints of green folliage.
As previously mentioned, the food menu is modern Italian.
Whilst there’s no denying this is fine dining and degustation menus are offered, the environment is pared back. In fact, there’s not a white tablecloth in sight. Forget stuffy fine dining, you won’t find that here. This is quality food, served in a relaxed ambience.
They offer lunch degustations Friday – Sunday and dinner Wednesday – Sunday, with menus changing daily depending on the seasons and best available produce. Matching wines are also available of course.
Expect to find dishes such as ‘Beetroot, Black Sesame and Cream’ alongside ‘Ravioli, Gruyere and Porcini Butter’ and ‘Yuzo, Mandarin, Licorice and Wakame Powder’. Like we said – it’s fine dining!
When it’s time to choose your wine, their list showcases predominantly Italian varieties and some of Michela’s favourites. We always think the best way to experience a degustation is with matching wines. It’s also such a great way to discover some new drops along the way.
Though, should cocktails be more to your liking they’ve created their own signature list.
We think LuMi Bar & Dining is a refreshing addition to the Sydney dining scene. Exceptional and innovative food served in a relaxed environment. What’s not to love?
