Review of LOT. 1 Sydney
LOT. 1 Sydney is a three level establishment offering a cafe, restaurant and (eventually) bars located on York Street in the city. Whilst it may be in corporate territory, it’s offering something a little different to most city venues.
Firstly – the space is large. In fact, it can seat 400!
There’s an Espresso Bar, which works well for business meetings, or maybe it’s just a great place for you to pick up your morning takeaway coffee. Good to know, they also offer an Apertivo Bar here from 5pm on weekdays.
Next door you will find a restaurant with a basement level that’s yet to be developed. (We hear there will be bars down there). They’re thinking big, and we like it.
The decor is luxe, it’s not stuffy, but it is decadent. Actually it’s quite refreshing after so many venues going ultra casual lately. Oh and don’t be surprised to hear the music pumping.
The fare is modern Italian and Chef Adam Swanson is behind the offering.
They’ve embraced the ‘share plate’ casual style of dining as seems to be the trend these days. The restaurant menu is tempting, whilst not extensive, but best of all we think the food will surprise you. In fact the food has a fine dining edge with each dish beautifully presented. But it’s not just pretty presentation they have mastered, they have the flavours to back it up.
In terms of the drinks – naturally there’s an Italian slant to the wine list, but they also offer plenty of Australian and other European drops. We suggest you enlist the help of your friendly sommelier to pair your wine to your dishes. Of course, they also offer a signature cocktail menu.
One other thing worth noting is the service was excellent on our visit. So often overlooked but so important. Good to see they have that covered.
We think LOT. 1 Sydney is a welcome addition to the Sydney CBD scene.
