Review of Flour Eggs Water
Flour. Eggs. Water. Combine those ingredients and you can create pasta. In all its forms. Parpadelle, Spaghetti, Lasagne, take your pick. But it all starts with the simple ingredients of flour, eggs and water.
So it makes sense this Pasta Bar, the offshoot to one of our favourite Italian institutions A Tavola, has decided to call itself Flour Eggs Water.
Flour Eggs Water has found two homes in Sydney. The first in Surry Hills and the second at Tramsheds. But what each venue is serving up is rustic Italian cuisine, in line with, but different to, their big sibling, A Tavola.
Pasta is at the essence of almost everything they do at Flour Eggs Water. In fact their ethos is simple. Honest Italian food done well. One glance at the pasta hanging drying around you and you already know they make their pasta from scratch.
The concise menu starts with a selection of antipasti, such as olives, calamari and burrata. It moves on to their ‘bread and butter’ (so to speak), i.e. handmade pastas and includes a few salads and sides for good measure.
In terms of the drinks, you’ll find a predominantly Italian wine list along with some local drops, but your sommelier will be more than happy to guide you with your choices.
We think Flour Eggs Water is a perfect example that food doesn’t need to be complicated to be good. The flavours, the produce, the techniques shine through.
We’re fans! Handmade pasta, simple ingredients, incredible flavour. Did we mention the Italian wait staff?
