Cafe Paci. Chef and owner Finish born Pasi Petanen’s first restaurant of his own. Though we should use the words ‘pop-up’ before ‘restaurant’. You see Cafe Paci is a pop-up restaurant, originally planned for 1 year but thankfully still going strong.
Pasi comes from fine pedigree, formerly Head Chef of fine dining staple Marque Restaurant. Paci’s modern Scandinavian food is experimental. It is quirky. It is playful. It is definitely not ordinary. Be warned. Be excited.
Grey is the name of the game at this pop-up. Grey walls, grey tables, grey chairs, grey floors, grey curtains. In fact, is there anything that isn’t grey? But we think this is exactly the point. The food is the star here. It doesn’t need the fancy decor to prop it up. It speaks for itself in volumes.
The food is fine dining, but not at all pretentious and more importantly not at fine dining prices. Seriously, $85 for a 5 course menu?! You’re dreaming. But not at Cafe Paci.
The catch is the menu is set each night (though they will accommodate any dietary requirements). So, sit back, relax and enjoy the exquisite food being presented in front of you. Open your mind and your tastebuds. They are both in for a treat. Chocolate covered pork crackling with fennel? Yes please.
We love Cafe Paci. Innovative food, wait staff who know about the dishes they are presenting and a warm, inviting vibe. If only this was not a pop-up restaurant. We look forward to Pasi’s next venture. We’ll be there with bells on.
