The Bastille Festival is back for 2019, celebrating the French National Day.  Circular Quay and The Rocks will be turned into a French winter wonderland with a huge array of events and food on offer.

Here are my Top 10 things to do and eat at this years Bastille Festival:

  1. FRENCH CHRISTMAS IN JULY AT THE ROCKS
    The Rocks will be transformed into a French Christmas Village, with an alpine skiing atmosphere, complete with falling snow, fairy lights, wooden chalets and Christmas carolers.  Warm your bellies with hot chocolate, melted cheese and mulled wine!

  2. THE PARISIAN FOODIE VILLAGE
    Customs House becomes a Parisian Foodie Village, with plenty of French comfort foods on offer including Raclette, Crepes, Baguettes, Cheeses and more.  French artisan goods will also be available, along with live entertainment.

  3. LE MULLED WINE CINEMA
    An outdoor cinema screening French cinema classics, complete with stunning harbour views.  Think popcorn, deck chairs, blankets and mulled wine of course!

  4. BASTILLE WINE WALK
    This 1.4 km Wine Walk takes you through 8 French wine regions, including Alsace, Rhone Valley, Burgundy and Loire Valley, Bordeaux and Beaujolais and Provence and Languedoc.  à votre santé!

  5. CHAMPAGNE AND OYSTER BAR
    A French style Oyster and Champagne bar is popping up at The Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay. Five oyster and sauce combinations are on on offer, each matched with a flute of champagne, dah-lings.

  6. FIRST FLEET PARK – FRENCH FOOD FUSION VILLAGE
    Head chefs from well known Sydney venues such as Koi, Messina and Fratelli Fresh will come together to create French fusion dishes.  Expect to find Camembert Arancini, a French Burger, Creme Brûlée, Macarons and more!

  7. THE ISLAND – KANAK BEACH VILLAGE
    Circular Quay will be channelling French New Caledonia and transforming into an Island Beach Village, complete with white sand, an Island Bar, Coconut Beach Huts, Palm Trees, Beach Chairs and Tropical Cocktails.

  8. THE GOURMET PRODUCE ALLEY
    East Circular Quay becomes home to The Gourmet Produce Alley.  A huge selection of French gourmet produce will be available to purchase such as French Truffles, Cheeses, Macarons, Alsace’s famous Tarte Flambee, French sweets and more.

  9. WINE AND CHEESE FEAST
    An intimate 2 hour Masterclass celebrating French wine and cheese.  Learn from a Sommelier about pairing wine and cheese, French wine regions and varieties and more.  You had me at wine and cheese!

  10. FIRST FLEET CRAFT BEERS
    Beer lovers might be interested to know five French craft beers will be on offer during the Festival, specially crafted by renowned boutique breweries.  The beers on offer include Pils d’Alsace, Blanche, Bastille Pale Ale, Rouge du nord and Triple Verhaegen.
