Bar Machiavelli is a bar/restaurant located in a historic former tyre factory and is a little sibling to long standing CBD staple Machiavelli.
The warehouse space is huge with souring ceilings, concrete floors and exposed brick walls which they put to good use with projections of Leonardo in The Great Gatsby, iconic Sophia Loren and even old school cartoon characters.
In terms of the food, they’ve stuck to what they do well with an Italian menu offering a selection of antipasto dishes along with house made pastas. Their signature pasta dishes are the Spaghetti with king prawns, mushroom, garlic, chilli and basil and Pappardelle with white bolognaise and cherry tomatoes,or baby gnocchi with sweetened blue cheese.
When it comes to the drinks they offer a selection of Italian wines along with a signature cocktail list of Italian classics with a Mediterranean twist including a Barrel-aged Negroni made with grappa and a Bellini or Tiramsiu Martini.
The waitstaff are all Italian too which adds to the experience in our opinion.
We think Bar Machiavelli is a top spot for a night out, but be sure to look the part – it does attract a trendy crowd. Oh, and take an Uber there and back, the restaurant is located a bit in the middle of nowhere.
