Review of Bar Indigo
Bar Indigo is a Double Bay institution and it’s not hard to understand why.
Situated on tree lined Transvaal Avenue, Bar Indigo is three locations in one. Two restaurants sit side by side with coveted alfresco tables perched on the footpath, literally in the middle of the road.
Owned and operated by friends Anthony Moustacas and Christian Verges, a relaxed, local vibe is achieved. The cafe prides itself on quality coffee, Modern Australian cuisine (with a European twist) and friendly staff.
Extensive breakfast and lunch menus are offered with the finest produce utilised and you can taste the freshness. Who says you can’t serve superior fare in a cafe?
For breakfast, our eyes are drawn straight to the ‘From the Farm’ menu. We find it hard to go past the Eggs benedict with brioche – it’s the perfect start to the day in our opinion. Naturally their eggs are free range and sourced straight from the farm. If eggs are not on your wish list, they offer a pastry selection and some tasty breakfast favourites. They also make a serious cup of coffee here. Good luck stopping at just one.
In terms of their lunch menu, they offer a selection of salads, sandwiches and lunch favourites. There is something to fit whatever your mood may be.
Whether for breakfast or lunch, we think Bar Indigo is a top spot to enjoy a first class leisurely meal. Sit back, relax and soak in the Double Bay life floating by.
Note: there are no bookings and chances are you will need to wait for a table on weekends. But they have the waiting system down pat, so you needn’t wait too long.
