Review of Bake Bar
Hands up who likes baked goods? So, that was a rhetorical question. Everyone likes baked goods right? Who doesn’t love a crusty loaf of sourdough or a crispy croissant? Seriously. Who? (Sorry Celiacs – but they even have amazing gluten free bread here, so don’t feel left out!)
Well, we here at Urban Chic Guides have a saying: “Don’t waste the fat”. So, if you’re presented with a Coles mud cake at work (we’ve all been there, right?). Pass. However, if the cuisine is quality – then it is worth the fat and you should enjoy every last bite – guilt free. It’s all about moderation. Eat the fat when it counts and refuse it when it doesn’t.
So, if you want to make the fat count we suggest you head to Bake Bar.
Bake Bar started in Randwick as a cafe with an open kitchen offering patrons a glimpse inside the bakers oven. It’s popularity grew and now they have opened a second location in Alexandria (pictured). Whilst the Alexandria cafe may be smaller, their kitchen out back is larger and will be supplying the Randwick store and their soon to be opened Double Bay store. Watch this space.
We were pleased to notice a focus on friendly, local service on our visit. You don’t feel like just a number here, they pride themselves on creating a personal experience.
To eat in – an extensive Breakfast and Lunch menu is offered utilising local, organic and sustainable produce. Almost everything you could wish for. But, their specialty is organic breads and pastries created by Head Baker Gili Gold and her team. Trust us – these pastries are worth the fat!
For those on the run, good to know they also offer takeaway. Oh, and if you are carb averse – just check out their salads. You will not be disappointed.
Coffee connoisseurs may be interested to note they serve Gusto coffee.
