Rodney Setter, Sommelier at Urban Chic Hot Listed Sepia Restaurant is one of Australia’s top Sommeliers.  In fact, he was awarded the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide’s ‘Sommelier of the Year’ for 2013.  So, it’s fair to say he knows a thing or two about our beloved wine.

We caught up with him to get his take on his top spots to eat and drink in Sydney.

Q:  Where do you go to get a great glass of wine in Sydney?

It would have to be Monopole.

Q:  If you could only drink one last drink on this earth, where and what would it be?

Madeira.  On Madeira.  (Madeira is a fortified Portuguese wine made in the Madeira Islands).

Q:  Please share with us your 5 all time favourite bars or restaurants.

Q:  If you had visitors in town, where would be the first place you would take them to drink and/or dine?

It would be Rockpool Bar and Grill.

Q:  What inspired your passion for wine and what does the industry mean to you?

My passion for wine grew out of a passion for restaurants.  For me, it’s all about food and wine together.

Q:  What do you want your ‘wine’ legacy to be?

Always approach wine with an open mind.

I actually wanted to be an Architect!
