Is it a bar?  Or is it a restaurant?  You be the judge.

Tokyo Pop is alive and well in Bondi thanks to PaperPlanes, a modern Japanese restaurant blending Japanese popular culture with innovative cuisine.

The quirky interior features origami dangling from the ceiling, alongside brightly coloured graffiti skateboards and centres around the ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ Bar.

A seat at the bar means you’ll be at the centre of the action where you can witness the Sushi Chefs, Barmen and DJ in full flight whilst table seating allows you to relax and soak up the uber cool, chilled vibe whether in a pair or a group.

The modern Japanese menu is perfect for sharing and comprises small and large dishes as well as authentic sashimi and sushi.  The Braised beef short ribs are an absolute must-have.  Drinks wise there’s a serious sake selection, a reasonably priced wine list and innovative cocktails to tempt you.  All this served by the friendly wait staff and set to the DJ’s beats.

Plus PaperPlanes can also be booked for parties and functions.
