Merivale’s offering Palmer & Co. taps in to the Sydney lane-way bar trend. Palmer & Co. is an underground prohibition style bar, with 1920s style. In fact, they call themselves ‘Legitimate importers of bracing tonics and fortifying liquids’.
We can’t help but compare it to Baxter Inn. It certainly has a similar feel. Like Baxters, Palmer & Co. is on the large size for a small bar. But, the space is cleverly divided into nooks and cranny’s, so it feels small and intimate.
This is the kind of bar where you can grab a table with your group and actually chat. Not the type of place where you find yourself screaming across the table to speak to your friends. We love the casual, relaxed, yet charmingly classy old world feel.
We can certainly understand why it’s become a popular fixture on the city lane-way bar scene. We’ve said it before and we’ll no doubt say it again; ‘those Merivale people sure know how to make a good bar’.
