Featured in our Top 10 Trendy Restaurants

Sydney-siders were sent into a spin when they heard much loved Melbourne Spanish Tapas Bar MoVida would be opening in a Sydney location.  Now, there is no need for us to jump on a plane to sample their famous tapas treats, we can enjoy them in our very own backyard.

MoVida is brought to us by Frank Camorra and shares his love of Spanish tapas.  The tapas and share plate menu consists of traditional classics from the Melbourne restaurant, as well as some new dishes exclusively for us in Sydney.  The wine list is made up predominantly of wines from Spain, with some from other regions thrown in for good measure, and includes Sherry’s and Cava (Spanish sparkling).

The vibe is bustling and warm and you can be guaranteed it will always be busy.  This is certainly not a quiet date restaurant!  Half of the restaurant is reserved for walk-ins, with the other half available for bookings.  But, beware, you’re going to want to book well in advance or arrive early if you don’t have a booking.

This is not a restaurant you will sit in for hours, the service and the food is quick, but it is a great spot to duck in for some tasty bites, enjoy a bottle of vino, and continue on your way.

In a nutshell:

Price:  $$  Not the cheapest tapas in town.  Expect to pay Surry Hills prices.
Fare:  Excellent.   Spanish tapas and share plates.

Service:  Efficient, fast & friendly.
Location:  Located in a Surry Hills backstreet.
Ambience:  Casual, friendly, fun, trendy.
