Westfield Sydney – shopping or dining destination?  It’s been a question we have found ourselves pondering of late.  Especially with the arrival of so many great restaurants into the shopping centre.

Most of us will be familiar with Darling Harbour malaysian favourite Chinta Ria Temple of Love.  But, you may not be familiar with its newer sister -  Chinta Ria Mood for Love, located on Level 6 of Westfield Sydney.

You will notice instantly the dark, moody, intimate space.  The organza drapes, glowing lamps, hints of red, cushioned banquette seating and ornate wood paneling combine to create the ultimate love den.  Once inside, you quickly forget about the hordes of shoppers lined up at Priceline, and you start to imagine you’re in Hong Kong, circa 1961.  In fact, the design is inspired by the Hong Kong film ‘Mood for Love’.

Menus delivered in old fashioned brown paper envelopes, turn out to be Screenplays, cleverly divided into Scenes (eg. Scene 1 are starters, Scene 2 are quick lunch courses etc.)

Chinta Ria Mood for Love is a great city dining option.  It is the kind of place you can be in and out in a flash, or you can choose to relax and settle back.  As we leave, we can’t help but feel we have been let in on a little secret – Simon Goh’s calm oasis, hidden away in the middle of a busy shopping mall.  We feel the love.  We will return.
