Billy Kwong moved recently from their tiny Chinese eating house on Crown Street to newer and bigger digs in Potts Point.
Celebrity chef Kyle Kwong is behind the concept, which focusses on ethical and sustainable eating.
The decor is unmistakably Asian, simple and elegant with an intimate warm and cosy feel. We are pleased to see the huge lantern centrepiece from their Surry Hills location lighting up the ceiling in their new home. It’s also good to note they’ve moved on from their backless stools.
The menu changes seasonally, depending on the best available produce and there are daily specials. Their signature dish of Crispy Duck is always available, but is served with oranges, mandarins or plums, depending on the season. There is no doubt the food is the star at this eating house.
The drinks list is interesting with a variety of wines including ‘project wines’ which have been bottled specifically for the restaurant, plus cocktails are a new addition to their repertoire.
Also, good to know, Billy Kwong now takes bookings. Hoo-rah!
