Bar Tapavino

First there was Whisky, then there was Tequila…now, there is Sherry?!…
Bar Tapavino is a bar much like those you would expect to find in Barcelona or Madrid. Celebrating all things Spanish, their point of difference revolves around Sherry. But, never fear if Sherry is not your thing, they have plenty of Spanish wines on the menu to tempt you with.
Located smack in the middle of banker territory, be prepared to rub shoulders with a suit or two on your visit. But, this is not a stuffy institution, there’s a relaxed, casual, welcoming vibe and the staff will instantly make you feel at home.
The downstairs bar is small and noisy and you’ll be sitting elbow to elbow with fellow patrons. If you are lucky enough to score a table that is, otherwise you’ll be sitting at the bar. Note: probably not the best first date restaurant, if you’re looking for quiet and secluded, best look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a good time, great service and authentic Spanish food and wine however, this is your place.
The bar downstairs does not take bookings, it’s a walk in only policy. But, upstairs, in their dining room, you are free to make a booking.
The wine list is extensive and is mainly Spanish in origin. If your Spanish wine knowledge is not up to scratch however, the wait staff are more than happy to help you with your choices – simply tell them the type of wine you like, and they’ll recommend one for you.
The food menu, is designed to be enjoyed with a glass of wine. With chefs ex Buzo and Wine Library, they’ve got the credentials. It’s a one pager, filled with a huge selection of tapas options. In fact, everything sounds delightful and it’s hard to make a choice.
Bar Tapavino is a welcome addition to the cbd small bar scene.
